NELFUND Sensitizes Students at Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny on Interest-Free Tertiary Education Loans

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) recently carried out a comprehensive sensitization program at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, aimed at raising awareness about its student loan schemes and promoting access to tertiary education funding in Nigeria. The initiative forms part of NELFUND’s ongoing efforts to educate students, parents, and the general public on the benefits, eligibility, and application processes for its interest-free loans.
Held on Thursday, 22nd January 2026, the program provided students with detailed guidance on:
- Understanding NELFUND’s student loan scheme
- Eligibility criteria for applicants
- Step-by-step application procedures
- Flexible and interest-free repayment options
The sensitization initiative is particularly significant in regions with low participation, such as the South-South, where many students face financial barriers that hinder access to education. By educating the public and facilitating access to funding, NELFUND aims to reduce dropout rates, improve academic performance, and promote equal opportunities for higher education.
The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, continues to prioritize the financial empowerment of its students, recognizing that access to funding is critical for achieving academic excellence and preparing graduates with practical skills and hands-on experience. Students were encouraged to take advantage of the loan opportunities to pursue their educational goals without the burden of financial stress.
The Polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Anthony Ogbe (SAR) (MCAI), emphasized that NELFUND’s presence at the institution reinforces the Polytechnic’s commitment to supporting students’ aspirations and creating pathways to quality education and professional growth.
With initiatives like these, the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, remains a beacon of accessible, hands-on tertiary education for students across Nigeria.
