Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Partners Canadian Education Council to Expand Global Academic Opportunities

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) has initiated a strategic collaboration with the Canadian Education Council (CEC) aimed at expanding international academic exposure and career opportunities for its students.

The partnership, currently in its planning phase, is part of the institution’s broader rebranding and repositioning agenda under the leadership of the Rector, Arc. Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, which focuses on enhancing global relevance and improving graduate employability.

Under the proposed arrangement, both institutions are expected to develop international internship opportunities for students, as well as establish an International Career Centre (ICC) within the Polytechnic to support career development and global job readiness.

Speaking during a stakeholder engagement meeting with MAPOLY Management, the Director of Students Engagement and Partnership Support at the Canadian Education Council, Dr. John Adeniyi, explained that the initiative is designed to complement the Polytechnic’s academic strengths by equipping students with skills required for global competitiveness.

He noted that the programme would introduce structured international career services similar to those offered in leading global universities, thereby improving students’ employability beyond Nigeria.

Responding on behalf of Management, the Acting Rector, Dr. Mrs. Yetunde Lanre-Iyanda, described the collaboration as a timely and commendable initiative aligned with MAPOLY’s vision of producing industry-ready graduates with international exposure.

She emphasized that the institution has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and expressed appreciation for its selection as a partner institution for the initiative.

Discussions at the meeting focused on the operational framework of the partnership, including internship modalities (both physical and remote), eligibility criteria, funding structure, and implementation guidelines.

As part of preparatory steps for the rollout of the programme, the CEC delegation, including Mr. Samuel Oluwasegun and Mrs. Rashidat Kuye, also inspected facilities proposed for the establishment of the International Career Centre (ICC).

They were accompanied by senior MAPOLY officials, including the Acting Registrar, Mr. Samuel Ashaye; Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Olayiwola Sojobi; Director of SIWES, Dr. Monsur Popoola; and Coordinator of the MAPOLY Career Service Centre, Dr. Sola Adeosun, among other staff members.

The initiative is expected to further strengthen MAPOLY’s global outlook while enhancing student access to international career pathways and professional development opportunities.
