Federal Polytechnic Wannune Matriculates 2,505 Students in Grand Fourth Ceremony, Showcases Academic Growth and Innovation

Federal Polytechnic Wannune in Benue State has raised the bar for academic ceremonies following a colourful and well-coordinated fourth matriculation event that formally admitted 2,505 students into its National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Traditionally, matriculation ceremonies are structured around academic processions, oath-taking, and formal speeches. However, many institutions often deliver these events in a routine manner that fails to engage stakeholders. At Federal Polytechnic Wannune, the narrative is changing. The institution has redefined the matriculation ceremony into a vibrant academic and cultural showcase that reflects modern trends, innovation, and student engagement.
The Rector, Dr Tyover Ashinya Dajoh, who presided over the ceremony, expressed satisfaction with the institution’s rapid development in both academic scope and infrastructural expansion. He noted that the Polytechnic has continued to experience remarkable growth due to strategic planning, effective leadership, and strong institutional partnerships.
Dr Dajoh commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustained support to the education sector, particularly through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, which has played a key role in funding critical infrastructure and academic resources within the institution. He also acknowledged the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, describing him as a major pillar in the Polytechnic’s progress.
The Rector further appreciated the contributions of key stakeholders and regulatory bodies, including the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, National Board for Technical Education, National Youth Service Corps, and the Tarka Traditional Council. According to him, the institution’s achievements are a product of collaboration and continuous support from these organizations.
Addressing the newly admitted students, Dr Dajoh urged them to remain focused and committed to their academic pursuits. He emphasized the importance of diligence and discipline, reminding them that their admission represents a significant investment by their parents and guardians. He also praised the staff of the Polytechnic for their dedication and resilience in sustaining the institution’s reputation as a growing centre of academic excellence.
The Governing Council, led by Chief Michael Msuaan, was also recognized for providing strong leadership and guidance that has contributed to the institution’s recent successes. The Rector revealed that Federal Polytechnic Wannune is currently ranked among the top institutions with the highest number of admission applications for the 2026/2027 academic session, an indication of its rising profile.
The ceremony featured the official administration of the matriculation oath, goodwill messages from key stakeholders, and an impressive display of cultural performances. Dance groups, including the Olive Dancers, the Polytechnic’s cultural troupe, and other traditional performers, added colour and excitement to the event, creating a memorable experience for students, parents, and invited guests.
The scale, organization, and energy of the ceremony highlighted the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, cultural diversity, and student development. It also reflected a leadership style focused on growth, innovation, and long-term institutional goals.
The successful matriculation ceremony marks another milestone in the journey of Federal Polytechnic Wannune as it continues to position itself as a competitive and forward-thinking institution in Nigeria’s polytechnic education system.
Congratulations were extended to the Rector, management team, staff, and the newly matriculated students for this significant achievement.
