JAMB Awards Kaduna Polytechnic with State-of-the-Art Medical Lab and Education Projects to Boost National Healthcare and Learning Standards

The Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has officially commissioned the NATAP 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 JAMB award projects at Kaduna Polytechnic, including a modern Medical Laboratory Building for the Shehu Kangiwa Medical Center.
The newly commissioned facility is designed to enhance healthcare delivery within Kaduna Polytechnic and the broader Kaduna State community. Professor Oloyede, during the commissioning ceremony and press briefing, commended Kaduna Polytechnic for its compliance with JAMB’s standards, which earned the institution multiple awards. He emphasized that the awards are merit-based, reflecting transparency, inclusiveness, and adherence to national admission guidelines.
The Registrar encouraged Nigerian tertiary institutions to adopt inclusive admission practices that promote national cohesion and reduce tribalism. He further highlighted the significance of international admissions, gender balance, and strict adherence to the Central Admission Processing System as key criteria for JAMB recognition.
Prof. Pinheiro, Chairman of the Governing Council of Kaduna Polytechnic, praised the management and staff for their unwavering commitment to sustainable educational development. He confirmed that JAMB intervention funds have been prudently utilized for constructing and renovating lecture theatres, laboratories, classrooms, and offices, while equipping departments with modern teaching and learning tools. The newly commissioned Medical Laboratory is intended to benefit both the immediate Polytechnic community and the larger society.
The Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Suleiman Umar, welcomed the JAMB team and highlighted the evolution of the Shehu Mohammed Kangiwa Medical Centre from a small sickbay in 1969 to a full-fledged healthcare facility offering quality medical services to staff, students, and the general public. Dr. Umar reiterated the institution’s commitment to transparent resource management and sustaining a mutually beneficial relationship with JAMB to advance education and healthcare.
Deputy Rector Academic, Dr. Grace Jamila Bila, expressed gratitude to JAMB and the Governing Council for their support, emphasizing the institution’s determination to maintain excellence in education and community service.
Other projects commissioned include a state-of-the-art Crime Investigation Office, supply of laptops and ICT accessories, renovation of departmental blocks, upgrade and standardization of Spider FM Radio, and improvements to the Shehu Kangiwa Medical Center Laboratory.
Kaduna Polytechnic remains committed to leveraging these developments to enhance teaching, learning, research, and healthcare services while fostering national development and community well-being.
