Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny Promotes Skill-Based Entrepreneurship Through Innovative Catering Program

The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, is redefining the future of education through a new focus on purpose-driven entrepreneurship in catering. The institution has introduced a unique initiative that merges business innovation with social impact, encouraging students to build profitable ventures that also serve humanity and the environment.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Anthony Ogbe (SAR) (MCAI), the entrepreneurship in catering program is designed to produce self-reliant graduates who go beyond the traditional pursuit of certificates to acquire practical skills that empower them to create meaningful change.
He explained that the program emphasizes sustainable food practices, local sourcing, and waste reduction, while also opening opportunities for students to provide employment and support for marginalized communities. “At the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, we are raising a generation of entrepreneurs who see catering not just as a trade, but as a vehicle for national development,” Ogbe stated.
The institution’s approach aligns with Nigeria’s growing demand for skill-based education, equipping young people to compete in today’s economy while contributing to social and environmental causes. Students are being trained to develop innovative catering businesses that meet market demands, create jobs, and promote sustainability.
This initiative also complements the polytechnic’s broader vision of nurturing tech developers, forward-thinking entrepreneurs, and policy leaders capable of driving socioeconomic advancement across Nigeria.
The management of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, is calling on prospective students and young innovators to join what it describes as “a moving train to a future filled with promise and potential.”
The program stands as a model for how Nigerian tertiary institutions can blend entrepreneurship education with national development goals — creating not just job seekers, but changemakers.
