IMAP Library Has About 100 Million e-Books Alone -Dr. Maifata, Acting Rector

Over eighty million recent e-books are in stock at the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic Lafia for use by students, staff and researchers.
Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata CLN, MNLA, FIICA disclosed this during an exclusive interview with select journalists in Lafia.
Dr. Maifata said the institution is prioritizing teaching and learning for maximum scholarship, stating that information resources have been provided in all fields of study.
He added that both the conventional and e-library are of standard to meet up with the research and informational needs of readers and researchers.
On the erosion of reading culture in the society, Dr. Maifata said culture of reading is to be instilled from childhood by parents, emphasising that the poor attention of parents and guardians towards reading has made reading unimportant to students leading to intellectual contents deficit, plagiarism and examination misconduct.
Speaking on the forthcoming institutional accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr. Maifata said adequate preparation has been made for the exercise, explaining that departments would be accredited and re-accredited by the accreditation team.
He noted that the Department of Mass Communication, which is also to be assessed and accredited, has the state-of-the-art facilities for commencement of campus broadcasting, adding that licensing is an issue that has stalled its operations as he stressed that efforts are at advanced stage to secure license from the National Broadcasting Commission(NBC).
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his unflinching commitment to technical education in the state to empowering youths with technical skills to become self-reliant, maintaining that his administration’s success has elevated the Polytechnic’s prestige nationwide.
