Ospoly Iree Begins Process for 2025 SUG Elections — Departments to Nominate Students for Electoral Body

Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has officially commenced preparations for the 2025 Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections. In a new internal memorandum released by the Directorate of Student Affairs on July 18, 2025, the Dean of Student Affairs has called on all Deans and Heads of Departments to begin nominating qualified students into the Independent Student Electoral Commission (ISEC).
The memo, referenced OS/POLY/SAO.90/1/23, urges departmental heads to nominate two eligible students to serve as members of ISEC — the body responsible for overseeing the electoral process of the Students’ Union. The deadline for submission to the Directorate of Student Affairs is Thursday, July 31, 2025.
To be eligible for nomination, students must:
- Be in ND I, HND I, or 200-level NCE as stated in the SUG constitution.
- Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 as at the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic session.
This development signals the beginning of election season within the institution, as students gear up to elect new leaders for the Union Government. The management, through this move, aims to ensure a transparent and credible election process.
The memorandum was signed by Paul F. Olawoyin, for the Dean of Student Affairs, and was also copied to key officials including the Rector, Registrar, Bursar, Librarian, and members of the Students’ Union Caretaker Committee.
More updates are expected in the coming weeks as the ISEC team is constituted and the official election calendar is rolled out.
