Federal Polytechnic Ukana Completes Long-Abandoned Auditorium Project Under New Leadership

Federal Polytechnic Ukana has recorded a major infrastructural breakthrough with the successful completion of its long-abandoned auditorium project, bringing an end to years of delay and uncertainty.
The one-storey facility, with a seating capacity of 350, was originally initiated under the TETFund 2014 intervention and officially awarded on June 21, 2017. However, the project experienced significant setbacks, including prolonged litigation and administrative challenges, causing it to remain unfinished through multiple leadership tenures.
The narrative has now shifted under the leadership of the Rector, Mrs. Eduma Enobong Essien, who revived the stalled project through the TETFund 2025 Special Intervention for distressed projects. Her administration has not only resumed work on the structure but successfully delivered it, restoring confidence in the institution’s commitment to infrastructure development and project execution.
A standout feature of the completed auditorium is the use of premium-quality paint produced by the Polytechnic’s Entrepreneurial Development Centre. This innovation reflects the institution’s emphasis on practical skills development, entrepreneurship, and internal resource utilization, while also enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the building.
With the project now fully completed and ready for use, the Polytechnic is set to benefit from a modern, functional auditorium designed to support academic activities, administrative engagements, and major institutional events. The new facility is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency and enrich campus life.
The successful delivery of the auditorium highlights the Rector’s focus on purposeful leadership, accountability, and sustainable development. It also signals a renewed commitment to completing critical projects that directly impact teaching, learning, and institutional growth.
This milestone positions Federal Polytechnic Ukana as an institution determined to overcome past challenges and move forward with strengthened capacity and vision.
