SUG Shocks Delta Poly Community as Students Gift Dean Brand-New Car After 14 Years of Service

In a remarkable show of appreciation, the Student Union Government (SUG) of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara has honored the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Samuel Enudi, with a car gift in recognition of his years of dedicated service to students.
The presentation, which has stirred reactions across the polytechnic community, took place during an elaborate ceremony attended by the Rector, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, top management staff, and the National President of NADESSTU.
Speaking at the event, SUG President, Comrade Julius Ukpeadlowa, said the union considered it necessary to celebrate Dr. Enudi, whose name, according to him, has become synonymous with discipline, dedication, and unwavering commitment to student welfare.
He revealed that for the past 14 years, Dr. Enudi has consistently served the student body with exceptional distinction.
According to the SUG President, the Dean has been more than an administrator to the students.
“In him, the students found not just an administrator but a father figure, a guide, and a stabilizing force,” he said.
Comrade Julius added that through difficult periods and moments of growth within the institution, Dr. Enudi remained accessible, fair, and fully committed to the peace and progress of the student body.
He noted that many students could testify to the Dean’s patience, wisdom, and willingness to listen even in challenging situations.
“His office is not just an administrative space, it is a place of understanding, resolution, and hope,” he stated.
The SUG leader explained that the decision to present a car was reached after careful deliberation and was meant to serve as a symbol of appreciation and gratitude for the Dean’s long-standing impact on generations of students.
He described the vehicle as more than just a gift.
“It is a symbol of appreciation, gratitude, and the enduring bond between a dedicated administrator and the students he has faithfully served,” he said.
While formally presenting the car keys and documents to the Rector for onward handover to the beneficiary, Comrade Julius stressed that the gesture was a modest way of telling Dr. Enudi that his efforts have not gone unnoticed.
“This gesture will serve as a lasting reminder that sincere and dedicated service will always be recognized and appreciated,” he added.
The SUG President also used the occasion to appreciate the Rector, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, for what he described as exceptional leadership that continues to inspire unity and confidence within the institution.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of Dr. Enudi, the Rector expressed surprise at the rare gesture, noting that it is unusual for a student union to present a car gift to the Dean of Student Affairs.
He said the action shows the level of sacrifice and admiration the students have for Dr. Enudi’s service to the institution.
Professor Biri commended the SUG for recognizing the Dean’s dedication and unalloyed commitment to the growth of the polytechnic.
This rare act of appreciation has since sparked conversations among students and staff, with many describing it as a powerful recognition of selfless service and leadership.
