ICPC Reconstitutes Anti-Corruption Unit at Federal Polytechnic Bali to Strengthen Transparency

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), in partnership with the management of Federal Polytechnic Bali, has reconstituted the institution’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) as part of renewed efforts to promote accountability, integrity, and ethical governance.
The reconstitution ceremony, held on April 16, 2026, at the Rector’s Conference Hall, signals a strategic move to reinforce internal control systems and align the Polytechnic with national anti-corruption standards.
Speaking at the event, the Rector, Dr. Mohammed Usman, described the re-inauguration as both timely and essential for strengthening institutional discipline and transparency. He noted that the ACTU plays a critical role in preventing corrupt practices, improving system efficiency, and ensuring strict adherence to established rules and procedures.
According to the Rector, the unit remains a key driver of institutional reform through its responsibilities in sensitization, system monitoring, and operational review. He emphasized that the effectiveness of the ACTU will depend largely on the collective commitment of staff to uphold professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct in their daily activities.
He also commended the ICPC for its continuous efforts in institutionalizing anti-corruption frameworks across public sector organizations in Nigeria.
In a goodwill message, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner appreciated the Polytechnic’s management for its cooperation and support in ensuring the successful reconstitution of the unit, noting that such collaboration is essential for sustaining transparency initiatives.
The ACTU operates under the provisions of Sections 7(1) and 70 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, functioning as an independent body with direct linkage to the Office of the Rector to ensure efficiency and autonomy in carrying out its mandate.
During the ceremony, the oath of office was administered by Barrister Solomon Longee, while Information, Education, and Communication materials were formally presented to the Rector by Mr. James Okoro Ulu to support awareness and sensitization campaigns within the institution.
In his remarks, the ACTU Chairman, Dr. Sani Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the Rector for his sustained support, particularly in facilitating capacity-building programmes for ACTU members at the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN), Keffi. He also acknowledged management’s backing for awareness initiatives, including the installation of billboards and banners across the Polytechnic.
Delivering the closing remarks, the Polytechnic Librarian, Mr. Daniel Marke, commended the leadership of the institution for its commitment to strengthening the ACTU and promoting a culture of transparency.
The reconstitution of the unit is expected to reinforce Federal Polytechnic Bali’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, enhance institutional credibility, and foster a culture of integrity that supports sustainable development and public trust.
