MAPOLY Upgraded to Band A as Power Supply Improves After Transformer Installation

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) has recorded a major infrastructure milestone following the successful restoration of electricity to the institution after the installation of two new transformers by the Ogun State Government.
The Polytechnic Management confirmed that power supply was fully restored on April 8, 2026, bringing an end to previous challenges and ushering in a new phase of improved and stable electricity across the campus. The upgrade from the 11kV to the 33kV line has significantly enhanced power capacity, positioning the institution for more efficient academic and administrative operations.
This development is expected to create a more conducive environment for teaching, learning, research, and daily administrative activities, while also supporting digital learning and other energy-dependent services within the Polytechnic.
The Rector, Arc. Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, on behalf of the Management, staff, and students, expressed deep appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his commitment to the growth and development of the institution. He noted that the timely intervention through the provision of the transformers played a critical role in achieving the improved power supply now being enjoyed on campus.
The Rector also acknowledged the contributions of key stakeholders and partners who supported the successful execution of the project, describing the outcome as a collective achievement for the Polytechnic community.
While congratulating staff and students on the improved electricity supply, he emphasized the need for responsible energy usage. He advised the Polytechnic community to adopt energy-saving practices, including switching off electrical appliances when not in use.
He further explained that the institution has now been placed on “Band A,” a classification that offers more consistent power supply but comes with a higher electricity tariff. As a result, he urged everyone to be mindful of consumption in order to avoid unnecessary costs while maximizing the benefits of the improved power infrastructure.
The Management reaffirmed its commitment to continuous infrastructural development and improved service delivery, noting that the restored and upgraded power supply marks a significant step toward enhancing the overall academic experience and operational efficiency at MAPOLY.
