Federal Polytechnic Bali Rector Receives Prestigious Pan African Leadership Award for Excellence in Education

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Bali, Dr. Mohammed Usman, has been honoured with the highly regarded Pan African Leadership Award in Education, a recognition that highlights his exceptional leadership and measurable impact on institutional growth and academic development.
The award was formally presented on Wednesday at the Rector’s office by the Country Coordinator of Pan African Leadership, Mr. Valentine Agba. According to Agba, the recognition followed a comprehensive and data-driven evaluation of Dr. Usman’s performance over the past five and a half years, focusing on key indicators such as infrastructure expansion, academic excellence, and staff and student welfare improvements.
He explained that the Pan African Leadership organisation conducts rigorous assessments of education leaders across Africa, identifying individuals whose contributions have significantly transformed their institutions and advanced the education sector within their countries. Dr. Usman was selected as one of the standout leaders whose strategic initiatives and results-driven administration have delivered visible progress.
Agba noted that under Dr. Usman’s leadership, Federal Polytechnic Bali has recorded notable achievements in campus development, enhanced academic standards, and improved learning conditions, positioning the institution as a growing hub for technical and vocational education. He encouraged the Rector to sustain the momentum and continue setting higher benchmarks for educational leadership in Nigeria and across the continent.
In his response, Dr. Usman expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing the award as both a prestigious honour and a strong motivation to further accelerate development within the institution. He emphasized that the achievements recorded during his tenure were the result of collaborative efforts involving the management team, Academic Board, staff, and key stakeholders.
The Rector acknowledged the critical support of the Federal Government and major education-focused agencies such as the National Board for Technical Education and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, whose interventions have contributed significantly to infrastructural upgrades and academic improvements. He also commended the role of the Central Bank of Nigeria in supporting key projects, including the development of modern student hostel facilities and the institution’s healthcare centre, both of which are nearing completion with additional support from TETFund.
Dr. Usman reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining institutional growth, improving educational standards, and strengthening Federal Polytechnic Bali’s reputation as a centre of excellence in technical education. He described the award as a morale booster that reinforces his dedication to delivering lasting impact in Nigeria’s education sector while continuing to drive innovation, capacity building, and student-focused development initiatives.
