AKCILS Donates Books to Kano State Polytechnic to Rebuild Central Library After Fire Incident

The Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS) has donated a collection of books to Kano State Polytechnic as part of efforts to support the restoration of the institution’s Central Library following the recent fire incident that destroyed thousands of valuable academic resources.
The donation underscores the commitment of higher institutions to promoting quality education through collaboration and support during challenging times.
During the official presentation of the books, the College Librarian, Dr. Fatima Usman Salihu, represented the Acting Provost of AKCILS, Dr. Ali Tamasi. She conveyed the sympathy of the college’s management, staff, and entire academic community to Kano State Polytechnic over the unfortunate loss caused by the fire.
Dr. Fatima emphasized the vital role of books and other educational resources in teaching, learning, and research, expressing confidence that the donated materials would contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen the Polytechnic’s Central Library.
She also reaffirmed AKCILS’ commitment to supporting Kano State Polytechnic in restoring the library to a standard that will continue to meet the academic needs of students, lecturers, and researchers. According to her, stronger collaboration among tertiary institutions remains essential for advancing education and academic excellence in Nigeria.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Polytechnic, the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. Maryam Kabir, expressed sincere appreciation to the management of AKCILS for the thoughtful gesture. She described the donation as timely and encouraging, noting that it reflects the strong spirit of partnership among higher education institutions.
Dr. Maryam revealed that the fire incident destroyed thousands of books, reference materials, and other valuable learning resources accumulated over several decades. She stated that the donated books would play an important role in the Polytechnic’s ongoing library restocking project and help restore quality library services for students, researchers, lecturers, and staff.
She assured the donors that the books would be properly managed and utilized for the benefit of the Polytechnic community while offering prayers for the continued success and prosperity of the management of AKCILS for supporting education through the generous donation.
Among those present at the handover ceremony were the Registrar of Kano State Polytechnic, Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello (Falakin Kano); the Polytechnic Librarian, Malam Gazali Saleh; the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Malam Sulaiman Hussaini Zakirai; and other management officials from both institutions.
The donation marks another significant step in Kano State Polytechnic’s efforts to restore its Central Library and strengthen access to quality educational resources after the devastating fire incident.
