Federal Polytechnic Idah Hosts TETFund Consultant Team for Impact Assessment, Seeks More Infrastructure Support

The Federal Polytechnic Idah has hosted a consultant team from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) as part of an Impact and Needs Assessment exercise designed to evaluate the Fund’s interventions in the institution between 2016 and 2025.
The assessment team, led by Professor Isah Abdulraheem, a Professor of Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of Abuja, visited the Polytechnic to examine the impact of TETFund-funded projects and identify priority areas requiring additional intervention.
Receiving the delegation, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Dr. Y.B. Usman, expressed appreciation to TETFund for its continuous investment in the institution’s development through various infrastructure and academic support initiatives.
Dr. Usman noted that the interventions have contributed significantly to the growth of the Polytechnic and appealed for further assistance in executing several strategic projects aimed at improving teaching, learning and research.
Among the projects presented to the consultant team were the establishment of a modern Television Studio for the Department of Mass Communication, rehabilitation of the institution’s internal road network, the development of a Solar Farm to improve energy supply, as well as other critical infrastructure projects.
The Rector explained that these projects would enhance the Polytechnic’s academic environment, strengthen practical learning and improve operational efficiency across the institution.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Abdulraheem commended the management of the Federal Polytechnic Idah for its cooperation throughout the assessment exercise, describing the institution’s support as essential to the success of the assignment.
He explained that the exercise is focused on evaluating the effectiveness of TETFund interventions implemented between 2016 and 2025, identifying the unique needs of beneficiary institutions and recommending measures to improve the impact of future intervention programmes.
According to him, the outcome of the assessment will provide TETFund with valuable information to guide future funding decisions and ensure that interventions are better aligned with the needs of tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The meeting was attended by members of the Polytechnic’s management team, including the Deputy Rector (Academic), Dr. M.I. Yusufu; the Registrar, Dr. O.A. Oniyide; the Bursar, Mr. Ibrahim Uba Usman; the Polytechnic Librarian, Mr. Bature Bitrus; the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Abu Onoja; the Director of Physical Planning, Engr. Dominic Opaluwa; the Acting Director of Procurement, Mr. Christian Okwenya; and the Deputy Registrar/Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. S.S. Omale.
The visit underscores the Federal Polytechnic Idah’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with TETFund while pursuing infrastructure development and academic excellence through sustained investment in critical institutional projects.
