Federal Polytechnic Idah Begins Preparations for NIPOGA as Rector Inspects Site for 750-Seater Ultra-Modern Sports Pavilion

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Dr. Y.B. Usman, has inspected the proposed site for the construction of a 750-seater ultra-modern sports pavilion as the institution intensifies preparations to host the 23rd Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA).

The inspection, conducted at the Polytechnic’s football pitch on July 15, 2026, marks another major step in the institution’s drive to provide modern sporting facilities ahead of the national sporting event.

During the visit, the Rector observed the setting-out of the pavilion, which will consist of two adjoining sections with seating capacities of 500 and 250, bringing the total capacity to 750 spectators.

Dr. Usman was accompanied by the Deputy Rector (Academics), the Director of the Physical Planning Unit, the Polytechnic Coach, the Deputy Registrar of the Public Relations and Protocol Unit, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), as well as other officials from the Sports Directorate.

Speaking during the inspection, the Rector reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to delivering world-class sports infrastructure capable of meeting the standards required for hosting the 23rd Nigeria Polytechnic Games.

He stated that the sports pavilion forms part of the Polytechnic’s broader efforts to ensure a successful and memorable NIPOGA competition while strengthening sports development within the institution.

According to Dr. Usman, the completed facility will provide a modern and comfortable viewing experience for spectators during sporting events and serve as a suitable venue for other major institutional activities.

He further explained that the project will not only benefit students and staff of the Polytechnic but will also serve the host community and contribute to the development of sports in Nigeria.

The proposed pavilion is expected to become one of the landmark sporting facilities within the institution, reflecting the management’s commitment to improving infrastructure and creating an environment that supports excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities.

With preparations for the 23rd NIPOGA gathering momentum, the construction of the 750-seater ultra-modern sports pavilion is expected to further position the Federal Polytechnic Idah as a capable host for one of Nigeria’s biggest inter-polytechnic sporting competitions.
