WE ARE STRONG AND FIT, AFIT COMMANDANT REAFFIRMS

The Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Air Vice Marshal SL Rabe has reaffirmed that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel serving in Kaduna are strong and fit to carry out their military functions.
The Commandant made the affirmation today, 4 November 2023, during the 10 Kilometre Walk/Jog exercise held at the Air Force Base, Kaduna. AVM Rabe who was the Guest of Honour at the event, stated that military functions require strength, mental stability and physical fitness.
He expressed satisfaction with the high level of physical alertness and added that a robust military is an essential requirement for a peaceful society. According to him, the officers and men came back from the 10KM Walk/Jog exercise the way they went with all of them intact and eager to do more.
Earlier, the Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command, AVM NN Ananaba, had praised the personnel for the high morale displayed throughout the route and added that the personnel must maintain the level of fitness displayed.


He remarked that the “fitter you are, the abler you are to do the job you are assigned to do.” He noted that the exercise was also conducted in all NAF formations nationwide.
Members of the NAF Base community, including officers and airmen wives, dependents and National Youth Service Corps members all participated in the exercise.
Prizes and gifts were given to participants who distinguished themselves during the exercise. In the officers’ walkers category, Flt Lt P Nansel came first, followed by Sqn Ldr RO Anyebe in second position and Sqn Ldr AU Kabura in the third position. Similarly, Plt Offrs SB Abubakar, YT Wada and Fg Offr AM Ogunjeminiyi came first, second and third respectively in the runners category.
In the airmen joggers category, Sgt Luka YN came first, followed by Lcpl Moh’d U and ACM Aliyu UU while MWO Adagboyi AA, MWO Lawan S and MWO Tijani Mohammed came first, second and third respectively in the airmen walkers category. Prices were also won in the female categories as well as NAFOWA and dependents’ categories.
