FUNATO Resumption Date Announced: New Oyo Federal University Fixes March 6, 2026 for Pioneer Students

The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), located in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, has officially announced Friday, March 6, 2026, as the resumption date for its pioneer students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision was reached during the university’s inaugural statutory Senate meeting, where the academic roadmap for the institution’s first set of students was reviewed and approved following assessments of the university’s operational readiness.
In a statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to the University Senate, Amuni Mohammed Olayinka, the management confirmed that comprehensive reports from the University Management, Deans, and Directors informed the Senate’s approval for resumption.
According to the statement, the Senate made key resolutions to ensure a smooth takeoff, prioritizing student welfare and academic stability as the institution begins its academic journey.
The approved academic calendar outlines a structured schedule for the pioneer cohort. Registration for newly admitted students will run from March 6 to March 10, followed by an orientation programme scheduled from March 11 to March 19, 2026.
Formal lectures for the first semester will commence on Monday, March 23, 2026. The university also fixed Wednesday, April 22, 2026, for its maiden matriculation ceremony, marking a historic milestone for the institution.
The first semester examinations are expected to take place in July, after which students will proceed on a short break before the second semester begins on August 3, 2026. The university plans to conclude the 2025/2026 academic session on November 30, with the next academic session tentatively scheduled to start on December 14, 2026.
Addressing concerns about accommodation for students in the host community, the management disclosed plans to provide hostel facilities through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement. The university stated that regulated and secure accommodation will be made available within surrounding communities at affordable rates, supervised by the institution to ensure safety and comfort for students.
The Registrar also announced that matriculation numbers will soon be assigned to candidates who have completed their acceptance fee payments, enabling them to proceed with school fees payment and full registration.
Prospective candidates who are still interested in gaining admission into the university were advised to take advantage of the open JAMB portal to effect a change of institution and select FUNATO as their preferred choice.
The Vice-Chancellor and members of the University Senate congratulated admitted students and described them as the foundation upon which the legacy of the new institution will be built.
Established in 2025 following the signing of its enabling law, FUNATO is preparing to admit its first cohort of students with a vision to produce graduates who are academically sound, technologically skilled, and entrepreneurially driven to solve modern challenges.
The university management urged all admitted students and prospective applicants to complete necessary registration processes early to avoid last-minute challenges ahead of the resumption date.
