Students Jubilate as Taraba State University Bans Lecturers from Selling Handouts to Students

The Management of Taraba State University (TSU) has banned lecturers from selling handouts to students with immediate effect.
The school authority said no lecturer should force students to buy their books and the books sale by the university staff has been suspended.
According to the memo obtained by POLYTV: “Management at its Emergency Meeting held in June 2023 observed with dismay the sales of handouts and books by lecturers or their student agent….
“It is in light of the above that staff are reminded of the decision of the University authority on the ban of sale of handouts. In addition, the sales of books published by university staff is here suspended.”
“Committee is to be constituted by Management to draw up modalities on how to handle such books”
“Based on this fact therefore, any staff found perpetrating any of the aforementioned shall be punished according to the University rules and regulations.”
The university students describe the ban as a welcome development as they commend the school management for taking such a broad decision.
