AFIT to Integrate Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Student Training, Commandant Reveals

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has announced plans to integrate artificial intelligence, robotics, and other modern technological systems into the training of its undergraduate students as part of a forward-looking academic transformation.
The Commandant of the institute, Air Vice Marshal A.K. Ademuwagun, disclosed this during an interactive session with students ahead of their semester examinations. He explained that the initiative is designed to produce graduates who are not only prepared for the future but equipped to shape it through innovation, research, and practical expertise.
According to him, the institute is aligning its research agenda toward mission-critical innovation while partnering with relevant organizations to deliver world-class training across various disciplines. These collaborations, he noted, will expose students to real-world socio-economic and technological realities and strengthen their readiness for industry demands.
He further emphasized that AFIT is pursuing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure students undertake internships with reputable companies where they can gain valuable hands-on experience. He stressed that impactful ideas require the right platforms and support systems to translate into meaningful change.
Encouraging students to prepare diligently for their examinations, the Commandant urged them to remain confident in their abilities and to avoid negative influences. He advised them to stay focused on their academic goals, ask relevant questions, and take responsibility for their personal and academic development.
On student welfare, he assured that the institute’s medical facilities are fully equipped with qualified doctors and nurses to provide proper healthcare services. Students were advised to utilize the campus hospital for medical needs rather than patronizing informal pharmacy outlets. He also noted that an ambulance service remains on standby at all times to respond promptly to emergencies.
The session provided students with the opportunity to seek clarifications on various issues and to request more frequent engagements that promote stronger interaction between students and the institute’s leadership.
The Provost, Professor Auwal Kasim, the Registrar, Air Commodore I. Shehu, as well as Deans and Heads of Departments, were present at the interactive forum.
