Everything You Need to Know About Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti (EKSPOLY)
BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT EKITI STATE POLYTECHNIC.
The Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti (EKSPOLY), came into existence on September 2, 2019. The polytechnic was established by the state government to provide for studies, training, and research. Prior to its establishment, Ekiti State was the only state in the southwest without a state polytechnic.
The Polytechnic is located at Isan-Ekiti in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The Polytechnic started operations on two campuses, the main campus and the temporary campus, before it finally moved to the main campus.
The main campus of the Polytechnic is located about 15 kilometers from Oye-Ekiti. The newly established institution is currently one of the best polytechnics in Nigeria, with affordable tuition fees.

THE POLYTECHNIC COMMUNITY.
The host community (Isan and Ekiti) is peaceful, with a nearly zero or low crime rate. The Polytechnic Community is dominated by 20% students, while the others are either indigenes or people who came for business. The common religions in the Polytechnic Community are Islam, Traditional, and Christianity. The common businesses in the community are POS, trades, farming, restaurants, food vendors, etc.

EKSPOLY PROGRAMMES.
As of the time this article was written, EKSPOLY only runs full-time programmes at the National Diploma(ND) level. Lectures start at 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The duration of the full-time program is 2 years and 6 semesters. The full-time programme is for students who sat for UTME and obtained the minimum requirements as contained in the Jamb brochure. The polytechnic also offers professional certificate courses with a duration of 3-6 months.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES.
EKSPOLY is one of the fastest polytechnics in Nigeria. The polytechnic does not delay academic activities. Textbooks and handouts are not compulsory in EKSPOLY. The polytechnic lecturers are friendly and jovial with their students. Academic results are released online and on the school notice board towards the end of the semester. The polytechnic has a library, computer laboratories, and other administrative buildings.

ACCOMMODATION AT EKSPOLY.
The school currently does not have a hostel to accommodate students. The students would have to seek accommodations in the polytechnic community. A single room in ISAN-EKITI range from #20,000 and above per year, while self-contained apartments range from #65k and above per year, depending on your budget.

EKSPOLY ADMISSION.
To gain admission to the polytechnic, applicants must have sat for the last UTME and obtained a minimum score of 120. In addition, applicants must possess five (5) credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB. The polytechnic does not accept awaiting results.

EKSPOLY COURSES.
All the courses offered by the Ekiti state polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti, have been duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Courses offered in the polytechnic are:
- Accountancy
- Computer science
- Electrical/Electronics engineering
- Agricultural Technology.

EKITI POLY SCHOOL FEES.
School fees at EKSPOLY are very affordable; in fact, the polytechnic is the only state-owned polytechnic in the south-west that is cheap and affordable. The tuition fee is #45,000 per session for the first year and #40,000 for the second year, excluding other fees and charges. Acceptance fee is #20,000 only.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I gain Admission to Ekiti Poly without Jamb? No, you can’t, you must sit for Jamb and obtain the minimum cut off mark for admission consideration.
Does the school accept awaiting Result? As we stated earlier, EKSPOLY does not accept awaiting result. You have to upload your O’level result before you can be offered admission.
Does the polytechnic have HND programmes? No!
Is there a part-time programme in EKSPOLY? No, the only available programme is full-time.
Does the Polytechnic conduct POST UTME? No, Ekiti poly does not conduct POST UTME or entrance examinations for applicants. What the polytechnic does is the screening of credentials. That is, the combination of O’level result with UTME results.
