UTME 2026 Results Released: JAMB Reveals How to Check Scores as 3 Arrested for Result Manipulation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the first batch of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), providing early insight into candidates’ performance in this year’s nationwide entrance test.
The examination, which commenced on Thursday across approximately 966 accredited computer-based test (CBT) centres, is expected to accommodate about 2.2 million candidates across Nigeria.
In a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board confirmed that results for 632,788 candidates who sat for the exam on Thursday, April 16, 2026, have been successfully processed and released.
Candidates who participated in the examination can check their UTME results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number linked to their registration. However, the board noted that result printing is not yet available at this stage.
JAMB also issued a strong warning against any attempt to manipulate or falsify examination results, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence tools or other digital methods. The board described such actions as serious criminal offences that will attract strict legal consequences.
According to the statement, two candidates and one parent are currently in custody over alleged involvement in result falsification using AI-driven techniques and other electronic means. The examination body reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the UTME process and ensuring that offenders are prosecuted in line with the law.
As the 2026 UTME continues nationwide, JAMB assured candidates that additional results will be released in batches as marking and verification processes are completed.
This development highlights the increasing importance of transparency, digital security, and strict compliance in Nigeria’s examination system, especially as millions of candidates compete for limited university admission slots each year.
