BREAKING: NUC Approves Law, Pharmacy, Engineering and 10 Other Programmes for Lens University Ilemona

Lens University, Ilemona, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 13 additional academic programmes following a successful resource verification and inspection exercise conducted by the Commission.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter dated June 16, 2026, and signed by the Director of Academic Planning of the NUC, Mr. Abubakar M. Girei.
According to the letter, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission approved the establishment of the new full-time academic programmes, which will be offered at the university’s main campus beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval follows a comprehensive resource inspection conducted by an NUC verification team on May 9, 2026, aimed at assessing the institution’s readiness to run the proposed programmes in line with national academic standards.
Reacting to the development, the Proprietors of Lens University expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the National Universities Commission for their continued commitment to expanding access to quality university education across Nigeria.
They reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and human capital development, stating that the university remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of producing highly skilled graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national growth and socio-economic development.
The newly approved programmes span the fields of law, health sciences, engineering, computing, business, and finance, further expanding the university’s academic offerings and creating more opportunities for prospective students.
The newly approved programmes are:
- LL.B. Law
- LL.B. Common and Islamic Law
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
- Doctor of Optometry
- Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT)
- B.CHS. Community Health Science
- B.Rad. Radiology
- B.Eng. Computer Engineering
- B.Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- B.Sc. Software Engineering
- B.Sc. Marketing
- B.Sc. Economics
- B.Sc. Finance
The approval marks a significant milestone in the growth of Lens University and is expected to strengthen its position as an emerging institution committed to providing quality education, promoting academic excellence, and preparing graduates for the demands of today’s competitive workforce.
The university management reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in teaching, research, and community service as preparations begin for the admission of students into the newly approved programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
