OGITECH Strengthens Campus Security Through Strategic Partnership With Amotekun Corps

The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has announced a strategic partnership with the Amotekun Corps as part of efforts to enhance campus security and provide a safer learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
The initiative forms part of the institution’s broader commitment to protecting lives and property while addressing emerging security concerns affecting educational institutions across the country.
Speaking during an official address on June 10, 2026, the Rector of OGITECH, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, disclosed that the institution has concluded plans to integrate Amotekun operatives into its internal security structure. According to him, the move is designed to strengthen the institution’s security framework, prevent unauthorized access, and effectively tackle potential security threats within and around the campus.
Dr. Oluseye explained that the management is committed to deploying every available resource to ensure a secure academic environment that supports learning, innovation, and institutional growth. He noted that the decision was informed by the need to proactively respond to the evolving security challenges facing the nation.
According to the Rector, a strong security system remains a critical foundation for sustainable educational development. He stressed that no institution can achieve meaningful academic excellence or infrastructural advancement without guaranteeing the safety of its stakeholders.
“My vision for OGITECH is captured in three words: development, development, development,” he stated, adding that the institution’s growth agenda can only thrive in an environment where students and staff feel safe and protected.
The collaboration with the Amotekun Corps is expected to significantly boost surveillance, improve emergency response capabilities, and strengthen overall campus security operations. The initiative also reflects the institution’s determination to adopt proactive security measures in line with global best practices for higher education institutions.
In her response, the Divisional Officer of the Amotekun Corps in Igbesa, Mrs. Oluwaseun Adesina, expressed the command’s readiness to support the institution’s security objectives. She assured the management that trained personnel would be deployed to complement the existing security team and help maintain law and order within the campus community.
Mrs. Adesina further reaffirmed the commitment of the Amotekun Corps to ensuring the safety of students, academic staff, non-academic staff, and visitors, describing the partnership as a significant step toward creating a secure and conducive educational environment.
The collaboration is expected to play a vital role in safeguarding the institution against security threats while reinforcing confidence among students, parents, and stakeholders in the safety of the campus.
