Oyo State College of Education Management Strengthens Security Partnership During Courtesy Visit to Nigeria Police Area Command, Eruwa

The management of Oyo State College of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors following a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Police Area Command, Eruwa.
The delegation, led by the Acting Provost, Dr. Suebu Olaide Lamidi, visited the Area Command on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, as part of the College’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with security agencies and promote a secure learning environment.
Welcoming the delegation, the Area Commander, ACP Ruth Otolorin, commended the College management for its proactive approach to security and its willingness to foster a strong working relationship with the Nigeria Police Force. She assured the institution of the Command’s continued support in maintaining peace and protecting lives and property.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Lamidi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and applauded the Area Commander and her officers for their dedication to maintaining law and order despite the challenges of policing the area.
The Acting Provost highlighted the security concerns facing the institution, particularly its expansive and porous environment as well as its proximity to forested areas. He appealed for increased police surveillance and stronger security collaboration to enhance the safety of the College community.
In her response, ACP Otolorin assured the management that the Police would extend surveillance operations to the College. She also advised the institution to formally request the establishment of a Police Post within the campus through her office to the Commissioner of Police, noting that such a move would significantly improve security coverage.
The College delegation included the Acting Registrar, Mr. Oloyede Adegboye; the College Security Officer, retired ASP Akinwumi; and the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Seyi Akintunde.
The visit concluded with both the Oyo State College of Education management and the Nigeria Police Area Command reaffirming their commitment to sustained collaboration aimed at strengthening campus security and providing a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research.
