Oyo State College of Education Holds Maiden Health Walk to Promote Staff Well-Being

The management of Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate, has organised the maiden edition of its Health Walk as part of efforts to promote healthy living, improve staff well-being, and encourage a culture of workplace wellness across the institution.
The fitness exercise, held in collaboration with the College’s Sports Committee chaired by Mr. Biodun Egunjobi, attracted a large turnout of academic and non-teaching staff who participated enthusiastically in the event.
The Health Walk commenced from the frontage of the NITEL Quarters in Lanlate, with participants walking through designated routes within the community before concluding at the College’s newly completed Computer-Based Test (CBT) Block, where the closing ceremony was held.
Addressing participants at the end of the exercise, the Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Suebu Olaide Lamidi, represented by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Oloyede Adelani Adegboye, described the initiative as a demonstration of the management’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and improving the welfare of staff members.
According to the Acting Provost, regular physical exercise plays an important role in maintaining good health, preventing lifestyle-related illnesses, boosting physical fitness, and enhancing productivity in the workplace. She stressed that the institution remains committed to initiatives that support the overall well-being of its workforce.
The Acting Registrar commended members of staff for their impressive participation and expressed confidence that the Health Walk would become a regular feature of the College’s wellness programmes aimed at fostering a healthier and more productive work environment.
The event also featured a health talk delivered by Chief Agbo Adeyemo, a friend of the College and donor of table tennis equipment to the institution. He highlighted the numerous benefits of regular physical exercise, noting that consistent fitness activities help strengthen the immune system, reduce stress, maintain a healthy body weight, improve cardiovascular health, and promote mental alertness.
Principal officers, deans, directors, heads of departments and units, alongside academic and non-teaching staff, participated in the exercise and applauded the College management for introducing the wellness initiative.
The maiden Health Walk further reflected the institution’s commitment to building a healthy workforce, enhancing staff morale, and creating an enabling environment that supports greater productivity, efficiency, and academic excellence.
