Lists of the Items to Take to School as a Fresher

The joy of every student is to gain admission to the university, polytechnic, or college of education of their choice, and when this becomes a reality, the next thing to do is return to the institution after being offered admission. But, before you resume, there are some items you will need in school that are very important to take along with you.

As a fresher student, you don’t necessarily need to take every item to school, except if you are a rich kid. Below are the items to bring to school as a fresh student.

1. TABLE AND CHAIR.

This is very important; you will need a plastic table and chair in your room. This will make learning easier for you, especially when preparing for examinations, assignments, or when reading.

2. STUDENT BED.

You don’t need to buy the biggest one. There are some beds that are made for students only. Take it along to your hostel. If you don’t have money for new, you can buy something fairly used to reduce cost. You will also need duvets.

3. CARPET/RUG.

This will make your room look neat and attractive. At least 8 yards of carpet or rug are okay for a fresher.

4. FAN.

Although this is not really necessary, it is useful, especially during the heat. after returning from lectures and trekking in the sun. The fan will serve as a relaxant for you.

5. BOOKS AND PENS.

You can get this inside the school. Buy three(3) higher education or a packet of books, depending on the number of courses you are offering. You will need a packet of books and pens when resuming. So if one is exhausted, you can easily replace it. Also, take your old textbooks to school because you will find them useful when academic activities commence.

6. DOCUMENTS.

Make sure you resume with all your documents. Some of the documents include:

O’Level Result (Photocopy and Original)
Jamb results (original and printout)
Passport photographs
Date of Birth
Certificate of Origin
Statement of result
Attestation letter
Medical Report

7. MEDICINE.

As a freshman, you will go through a lot of stress, starting with your registration and signing of your documents; thus, you need to take some provisions and medicines along with you to school in case of emergency.

Condoms (to prevent unwanted pregnancy and STDs)
Bournvita/Milo
Milk
Cube sugar (for drinking garri and tea)
Prevention pill

10. TECHNOLOGY.

As a freshman, there will always come a time when you will need some electronic gadgets in school for assignments, seminars, or projects. Some of the electronic gadgets you will need are:

Smartphone (Compulsory)
Laptop/PC
Power Bank
Extension box
White Bulb
Electric Stove (for cooking)
Media players (Bluetooth, DVD, or TV) for entertainment

11. BANK ACCOUNT.

If you have yet to open an account, try to do that as soon as possible. This will make it easier for your parents or guardian to send money to you at school. It is also advisable that you open an account with a bank that is close to the campus, as this will save you from unnecessary charges.

12. WARDROBE.

This is where your clothes and footwear will be kept. When resuming, you should also buy new clothes.

13. LISTS OF PHONE NUMBERS.

After gaining admission, it means you are starting a new life, and you don’t want to lose your old friends’ contacts, so make sure you list all your family and friends’ phone numbers in your diary so you can easily contact them in the future.

14. GAS COOKER/STOVE.

A man cannot survive without food, which is essential to life. If you can’t afford a cooking gas stove, buy a kerosene stove or electric stove for cooking your food in the hostel. You can’t afford to buy food outside all the time.
