Fed Poly Ayede Praises Tinubu as NELFUND Loan Recipients Start Receiving Monthly Allowance

In a commendable move that underscores the Federal Government’s renewed commitment to education and youth development, Federal Polytechnic Ayede has publicly expressed deep appreciation to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration following the successful disbursement of 20,000 monthly stipends to its pioneer beneficiaries under the NELFUND student loan scheme.

This financial support, scheduled to run for 12 consecutive months, is part of the broader National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative, which was introduced to cushion the financial burden on Nigerian students and improve access to higher education across the country.

Earlier in late March 2025, the full tuition fees for forty-four (44) students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede were fully paid through the NELFUND scheme. Just weeks later, those same students have now started receiving their monthly stipends, an act that has not only brought relief but has also sparked overwhelming gratitude within the campus community.

Speaking on the development, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Dr. Taofeek Adekunle AbdulHameed, lauded the Federal Government for walking its talk on educational reforms. What we are witnessing today is a clear reflection of purposeful governance. President Tinubu’s administration has proven that it prioritizes education, not just in words, but in real, life-changing action, he said.

Dr. AbdulHameed further praised the collaborative efforts of the school’s management team and key stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure that eligible students were properly registered, verified, and positioned to benefit from the loan and stipend.

Students who received the funds couldn’t hide their joy. Several of them described the initiative as a lifeline, noting that the financial support will allow them to focus entirely on their academic goals without the constant distraction of financial stress.

One of the beneficiaries, a student from the Department of Computer Engineering, shared: This is the first time I feel truly seen and supported by the government. I now believe in the system, and I’m motivated to work even harder in my studies.

The polytechnic’s management also confirmed that steps are already being taken to ensure more students from the institution benefit from the NELFUND scheme in the next phase of disbursement.
