Monguno Poly Rector Takes Cleanup Drive to Permanent Site, Orders Fresh Reform Push

There was renewed activity at Federal Polytechnic Monguno on Friday as the institution’s Rector, Dr. Alhaji Umar Bukar, personally led a sanitation and inspection exercise at the school’s permanent site in what officials described as part of a wider reform programme.
The Rector was seen supervising the clearing of bushes and overgrown vegetation across sections of the campus, a move aimed at preparing the site for the relocation of major academic and administrative units.
School officials said the exercise is part of the management’s effort to fast-track development at the permanent site and create a safer environment for staff and students ahead of expanded operations.
Beyond the environmental exercise, Dr. Bukar reportedly carried out spot checks in lecture halls and the remedial studies section to assess classroom activities and ensure lecturers and students were fully engaged.
The development comes amid growing efforts by the institution’s leadership to improve standards in teaching, campus management, and infrastructure.
In a related move, the Rector also visited the College of Nursing Science, Monguno, where discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in academic training and professional development.
Education stakeholders in Borno State say the latest actions signal a stronger commitment by the polytechnic’s management to reposition the school for growth and improved service delivery.
Observers within the institution described the Rector’s direct involvement as a sign of hands-on leadership, noting that the reforms could positively impact both academic performance and campus development.
Management sources added that the administration remains committed to sustaining the pace of reforms as the institution moves toward full utilization of its permanent site.
