The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro was established by Decree No. 33 of July 25, 1979. The vision and mission of the institution is to be a market leader in the provision of technically skilled manpower for Nigeria and the global competitive economy. To provide opportunities of qualitative technical education in a serene and conducive learning environment for all eligible Nigerians who will drive the national industrial economy.

The polytechnic Offers full-time and part-time courses for both the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes. Federal polytechnic Ilaro is currently one of the best and fastest polytechnics in Nigeria.
