Federal Polytechnic Mubi Suspends Strike as Students Ordered to Remain on Campus Ahead of Lecture Resumption

Students of the Federal Polytechnic Mubi have been urged to remain on campus following a major breakthrough in the institution’s ongoing strike, as management confirmed that an agreement has been reached with the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Mubi Chapter.

In a circular issued by the Student Affairs Division and signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Abubakar A. Bello, the institution announced that management held a productive meeting with the Executive Council of ASUP to resolve issues surrounding the industrial action.

According to the statement dated July 23, 2026, both parties reached a mutual understanding and agreed to suspend the strike, paving the way for the immediate resumption of academic activities.

The institution further disclosed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing the agreement is scheduled to be signed the following day.

Following this development, students have been advised to remain calm and stay on campus, as lectures and other academic activities are expected to resume immediately after the MoU is signed.

The management also strongly warned students against traveling or leaving the school, emphasizing that preparations for the continuation of the academic session are already underway.

The circular expressed appreciation to students for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the strike period, urging them to be fully prepared for the resumption of lectures without delay.

The announcement is expected to bring relief to students who have been awaiting the resolution of the industrial dispute and the continuation of their academic calendar.
