Enugu/Ebonyi Staff Welfare Association Commends Federal Polytechnic Oko Rector, Dr. Chioma Awuzie, for Transformational Achievements

The Enugu/Ebonyi Staff Welfare Association of Federal Polytechnic Oko has praised the institution’s Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, for what it described as remarkable progress in infrastructure development, staff welfare, student support, and academic advancement.
The commendation was presented during a courtesy visit to the Rector’s office, where members of the association expressed their admiration for the visible transformation recorded under her leadership.
In a letter jointly signed by the Chairman, Comrade Emeka Icha Ituma, and the Secretary, Dr. Ursula Nkechi Ugwoke, the association stated that the visit was not only to acknowledge her leadership but also to identify with her roots, noting her early life connection to Ihe in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The association highlighted that within a relatively short period, Dr. Awuzie has repositioned the Polytechnic through strategic initiatives and impactful projects that have enhanced both institutional capacity and overall campus experience.
Among the key projects cited are the construction of a modern security building, the revival of the Polytechnic’s bread production factory, and the restoration of the water production facility. The association also noted the upgrade of the Polytechnic printing press with advanced equipment, the activation of the skill acquisition centre, and the construction of an ultramodern medical centre at the Ufuma campus.
In addition to infrastructure, the association emphasized improvements in welfare policies, pointing to better support systems for both staff and students as part of the Rector’s broader vision for institutional excellence.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Rector and her management team, expressing confidence in her ability to sustain the current pace of development.
In her response, Dr. Awuzie appreciated the association for the visit and their show of solidarity. She reflected on her personal connection to Enugu State, recounting that she was born in Ihe, Awgu Local Government Area, where her father served as a Vice Principal at the Teachers Training College.
She further noted that her upbringing also included time in Nsukka, where she attended Central School II, giving her a strong sense of belonging to both Anambra and Enugu States.
Dr. Awuzie thanked the association for their continued support and reaffirmed her commitment to driving sustainable growth, improving academic standards, and enhancing welfare across the Polytechnic community.
