ASUP STRIKE LATEST UPDATE 2022
The Academic staff Union of polytechnics (ASUP), Akanu Ibiam Federal polytechnic Unwana chapter, have today suspended their two months old strike after a resolution meeting with the school management.
The strike which commenced 30th May was put to hold on Tuesday 16th August, 2022 after an agreement was reached during the Congress meeting held in the school of engineering hall. The polytechnic lecturer embarked on strike following the inability of the school management to pay their honorarium.
The union (ASUP-AIFPU) has however directed all her members to resume academic activities with immediate effect.
POLYTV gathered that the academic board will soon release a new academic calendar as the previous one had expired due to the strike action.
Also, ASUP Federal polytechnic oko chapter have suspended their one month old strike following the intervention of National Association of Polytechnic students (NAPS), academic activities have since resumed in the polytechnic.
The Academic staff union of polytechnic (ASUP), Moshood Abiola polytechnic chapter has called off their 5days warning strike on Monday 15th August, 2022. The decision to suspend the strike was reached after the Congress meeting held in the polytechnic on Monday 15th August. Lectures and other academic activities continue in earnest.
Meanwhile ASUP Federal polytechnic Idah chapter on Tuesday 16th August celebrates “ASUP DAY” where an award was conferred on some dignitaries. The Rector and other principal officers were present at the Union maiden edition.
NO RESUMPTION DATE YET- SUG
The Students union Government of Plateau State Polytechnic has clarified that no date has been fixed yet for school resumption as the Joint action Committee(JAC) Plateau state chapter is still on strike. The union embarked on an indefinite strike in June 2022 to pressure for their demands from the state government.
The affected institutions are all the state owned tertiary institutions in the state including plateau state polytechnic Barkin Ladi.

The polytechnic (PLAPOLY) students have however appealed to the National Association of polytechnic students (NAPS) and National Association of Nigerian students (NANS) to come to their aid as the strike action paralyzed academic activities in the polytechnic.
One of the students who spoke with our correspondent said “ASUP and the government are toying with our future, the school has been on strike for months now with no positive news. We want NAPS and NANS to come to our aid because we are tired of staying at home”
