ASUP condemns deplorable decay of Federal Poly Offa

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic Offa, has strongly condemned the current deplorable state of the institution.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Chairman, Idowu Atilola, partially blamed the situation on the alleged consistent absence of key principal managers of the institution, including the rector, bursar and registrar.
The statement read in part: “The union is embarrassed to announce the continued despicable state of our institution, as evidenced by the recent shameful disconnection by PHCN due to non-payment, the pitiable state of infrastructural facilities, and the school environment being likened to a Guinea Savanna that is now host to animals.
“The union is in serious protest of this continued decay and wants these issues addressed, or we will be compelled to declare the school unfit for habitation and, by extension, academic exercises.
“We cannot continue to show understanding while the management is bullying all and sundry on duties that are their absolute preserve.
“Again and again, the union has warned about the grand level of incompetence and mischief in the registry department.
“Their crimes are so heinous and repugnant to a structured environment that it has become necessary to start taking drastic measures to put them back into perspective.
“To mention but a few: the continued refusal to properly project union agreements, non-issuance of return letters to winners of the Council elections, concocting fake information to malign staff, non-keeping of proper records, usurpation of powers, and abuse of office.
“We have discovered that this trend, if not curbed, is a disaster in the making, and we must take proactive steps to save the souls of the staff.”
The union called on the management, as a matter of urgency, to conduct a holistic review of registry operations or face more drastic steps in the near future.
