Akunu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana has officially released its approved academic calendar for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session. The schedule, issued by the Office of the Director of Academic Planning and Development, outlines key academic activities spanning a duration of 16 weeks.
The semester is set to commence in April 2026, with students expected to return to campus and begin academic activities immediately.
The second semester officially begins on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Students are to resume on the same day, while course registration and lectures will commence on Monday, April 27, 2026. Academic coordination activities will follow shortly after, with departmental board meetings scheduled for April 27, school board meetings on April 28, and the academic board meeting on April 29.
In May 2026, the institution will hold the Entrepreneurship and Educational (ENT/EED) orientation for HND I and ND I students on Monday, May 11. Departmental, school, and academic board meetings will take place between May 18 and May 20. Course registration will officially close on Friday, May 22, 2026.
Academic administrative meetings will continue into June, with departmental board meetings on June 15, school board meetings on June 16, and academic board meetings on June 17. Departmental tests are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 22, followed by another academic board meeting on June 24. The tests will conclude on Friday, June 26, 2026.
By July 2026, lectures will come to an end on Friday, July 10. The Students’ Week is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 13, and will run through Friday, July 17. During this week, departmental, school, and academic board meetings will also take place between July 13 and July 15.
Revision for examinations will begin on Monday, July 20, and end on Friday, July 24. The second semester examinations will commence on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Examinations will run into August, concluding on Friday, August 14, 2026. Final year project defenses are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 26, and will end on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The academic calendar provides a structured timeline for both students and staff, ensuring a smooth and coordinated academic session. Students are advised to adhere strictly to the outlined dates, particularly registration deadlines and examination schedules, to avoid any disruptions.
The institution emphasizes punctuality and compliance with all academic activities as scheduled, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining high academic standards throughout the semester.
