How to Survive Nigeria's Economic Hardship Under Tinubu's Regime

It is no longer news that things have been difficult for the majority since President Tinubu assumed office. The prices of food, fuel, school fees, and transport have skyrocketed in recent years. Now, everyone is looking for ways to survive as the hardship has become unbearable.

Here Are Some Tips to Survive This Economic Hardship:

1. Get A Double Source of Income.

If you have a family that depends on you, your salary alone won’t be enough to sustain you and your immediate family. You should consider a side hustle, such as an online business, or learn additional skills that can benefit your primary job. When you have two sources of income, the impact of this hardship will be less severe. Some skills you can learn include soap making, baking, event decoration, graphic design, web design, blogging, cryptocurrency trading, content creation, and fashion design.

2. Start Mini-Farming.

Many of us come from family backgrounds where our parents and grandparents were involved in agriculture and farming. If you have abandoned land, you could try growing crops and vegetables. This will reduce the effects of the economic hardship because you won’t have to buy vegetables, yams, and potatoes from the market. This way, you can save more money for other important expenses.

3. Avoid Unprotected Sex.

Unprotected sex can cause additional hardship during Tinubu’s regime if it results in pregnancy. You may not be able to afford an abortion, let alone antenatal care. Prevention is better than cure—always use protection. Giving birth during a time affected by Tinubu’s policies may lead to greater financial difficulty.

4. Eat At Home.

Cook your own food and manage your resources. This is not the time to eat out unless you have a stable source of income. When you cook your own food, you will save money and avoid excess spending. This is how you can survive this regime, as we don’t know when the situation will improve.

5. Don’t Buy Admission Forms Without Money.

You have no business buying admission forms or going to school if you don’t have money. What would you achieve? You would face frustration and financial strain. Unless you have a sponsor or can afford your own education, it may be wiser to learn a skill and start a business instead of dropping out due to an inability to pay school fees.

10. Go For Cheap Accommodation.

Your rent should be covered by three months of your salary. As people complain about hunger, it’s important to learn from their mistakes. When you have money, the first thing you should do is buy food for your home, either in bulk or in small quantities. If you are a student, you may want to consider buying an electric cooker or heater, as the cost of cooking gas is rising daily. Finally, avoid dating a man or woman without a job during this time of economic hardship. They could become a financial burden and frustrate you if you cannot provide for them.
