The cost of education in Nigeria is not free, as students have to pay for school fees and complete their registration formalities before they can write exams and graduate.

Generally, state polytechnics are expensive, but there are still a few that are cheap and affordable for Nigerian students. Below are some of the cheapest and most affordable state polytechnics in Nigeria to try:

1. Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.

Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja should be one of your favorite schools when it comes to state polytechnics that are cheap and affordable. The highest school fee is #55,000 per session. Unlike other schools where lecturers forced students to purchase their textbooks, such an act is prohibited at Kogi Poly, and the school environment is also peaceful and conducive for learning.

2. Niger State Polytechnic.

Niger State Polytechnic is located at Zungeru in Niger State. The polytechnic is affordable for both their ND and HND programs. School fees for the first year are below #60k and below #50,000 for the second year.

3. Kano State Polytechnic.

Kano Poly is one of the most populated polytechnics in Northern Nigeria. Apart from the fact that the school is one of the best for quality education, their tuition fee is one of the cheapest, as it ranges between 40k, 50k, and 60k, depending on the student program.

4. Akperan Orshi Polytechnic.

AOPOLY is located in Yandev, Benue State. The school is one of the cheapest state polytechnics in Nigeria as school fees are below #60,000 per session for the first year and less for the second year.

5. Gombe State Polytechnic.

Gombe State Polytechnic is located in Bagoja, Gombe State, Nigeria. The school offers ND and HND programs, and tuition fees are cheap and affordable.

6. Abdu Gusau Polytechnic.

Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, is located in Zamfara State, Northern Nigeria. As of the time of publishing this report, school fees for the first year is 52k and 40k downward for the second year.

7. Jigawa State Polytechnic.

Jigawa State Polytechnic is one of the cheapest state polytechnics in Nigeria as students who are indigenes pay below #50,000 per session while non-indigenes students pay below #60,000. The school is very cheap for Nigerian students.

8. Ekiti State Polytechnic.

This list of the state polytechnics in Nigeria that are cheap and affordable will be incomplete without mentioning EKSPOLY. EKITI POLY is located at Isan Ekiti in Ekiti State. The highest school fees paid by students are between 55k and 60k, excluding other charges and dues that students will pay at their respective departments.

9. Ramat Polytechnic.

Ramat Polytechnic is located in Maiduguri, Borno State. School fees are between #45,000 and #60,000 per session.

10. Adamawa State Polytechnic.

Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, offers ND, HND, NCE, and BSC degree programs. For the ND and HND programs, the school fee ranges below #65,000. As of the time of publishing this report, non-indigene students pay #60,000 per session, while students who are indigenes pay #55,000 for the first year. For the second year, the fees are below #50,000 per session, excluding other dues that students will pay at their various departments.

11. Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic.

HUKPOLY Katsina is also among the lists of state polytechnics that are cheap and affordable. The school fee is between #35,000 and #45,000 per session for indigenes, while non-indigenes pay between #55,000 and #60,00 per session.

12. Rufus Giwa Polytechnic.

Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, formerly ONDO STATE POLYTECHNIC, is also one of the cheapest state polytechnics in the south-west of Nigeria. The school fee ranges from #60,000 and above, though it varies by faculty and department.

13. Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Mapoly, is located in the capital city of Ogun State. The full-time program is cheap as tuition fees are between #50k and #60k. However, the part-time program ranges from #60,000 and above per session.
