Federal Polytechnic Wannune Matriculates New Students, Charges Them on Good Conduct
The Federal Polytechnic Wannune held its second matriculation ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session on the sixth of septemer, welcoming hundreds of new students into various programs at its campus in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
The ceremony, presided over by the Rector of the institution, Dr. Emmanuel Tyover Ashinya, saw participation from the academic staff board and was coordinated by the Registrar, Dr. Muhammad Ndahs. Dr. Ashinya, in his address, welcomed the newly matriculated students and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment, state-of-the-art facilities, and highly experienced lecturers and instructors to guide the students.
“I am committed to uplifting the institution to the zenith of academic excellence, and we have begun to make progress in that regard,” Dr. Ashinya stated. He also expressed gratitude to former President Muhammadu Buhari for establishing the institution and to Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Dr. George Akume, for facilitating its establishment. He further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for approving his appointment as the second Rector of the Polytechnic.
Dr. Ashinya also announced scholarships and employment opportunities for outstanding students and called for the support of the academic board and the polytechnic community to ensure his success in this role.
In separate remarks, representatives from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) congratulated the students and encouraged them to take full advantage of this opportunity. Mrs. Veronica Garba from NYSC, Mr. Aondoakaa Anyion from JAMB, and Dr. O.O Bello from NBTE all emphasized the importance of humility, commitment, and additional skill acquisition. Dr. Bello specifically urged students to be consistent with their Bio-Data to avoid future academic issues.
HRH, Gandeorun Orokaa, the Ter Mbakor, offered royal blessings and praised the people of Benue State for their support of the institution. He encouraged continued communal support and acknowledged the Rector’s dedication and hard work.
In closing, Dr. Doris Mgurumun Iorchir, Director of Academic Planning, thanked all stakeholders, guests, and the host community for their support. She urged them to continue to encourage students to seek higher education and take advantage of the proximity of the institution.
The ceremony marked a significant step in the academic journey of the new students and reinforced the institution’s commitment to educational excellence and community collaboration.
