The Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti (EKSPOLY) came into existence on 2nd September, 2019. The polytechnic was established by the State Government to provide for studies, training and research

Prior to its establishment, Ekiti State was the only State in the South -West without a State Polytechnic.

The Polytechnic which was established by the State Government Law (re-enactment) on 2nd September 2019 as a College of Agriculture and Technology, Isan-Ekiti before it was changed to Ekiti State College of Agriculture and Technology, Isan-Ekiti. The State Government in its wisdom to reposition the institution for greater achievements, changed its to Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti through a re-enactment Law No. 6 of 2021.

The institution started with 4 Academic Departments with two Principal Officers (Rector and Registrar), 2 Academic Staff, about 56 Non- Academic Staff, and a pioneer Students enrolment of 91.

ABOUT THE POLYTECHNIC

The Polytechnic is located at Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The Polytechnic started operations on two campuses, the main campus and the temporary campus, before it finally moved to the main campus.

The main campus of the Polytechnic is located about 15 kilometer from Oye-Ekiti. The newly established institution is currently one of the best Polytechnics in Nigeria with affordable tuition fees.

THE POLYTECHNIC COMMUNITY

The Host – Community (Isan–Ekiti) is peaceful with nearly zero or low crime rate. The Polytechnic Community is dominated by 20% Students while the others are either indigenes or people who came for business, the common religions in the Polytechnic Community are Islam, Traditional and Christianity.

THE CAMPUS

All students make use of the main campus for lectures, and other activities. All forms of indecent dressing are not tolerated, and defaulters risk being sanctioned by the Polytechnic Authorities. The Polytechnic also has zero tolerance policy for cultism and examination malpractices.

The main campus comprises of Administrative Buildings, Laboratories, Workshops, Staff Offices, Medical and Health Centre and the World-Class newly constructed Faculty Buildings. 

EKITI STATE POLYTECHNIC, ISAN-EKITI PROGRAMMES

The Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti currently runs National Diploma programmme which is on full – time. The duration for the National Diploma programme is two years. The full-time programmes are for students admitted through JAMB (UTME). Lectures start between 8: 00am to 4: 00pm daily for the students except on exceptional cases like public holiday.

Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti Admissions

Candidates seeking admission into the Polytechnic must obtain a Minimum Cut-off Mark (MCM) of one hundred and twenty (120) in the 2021/2022 UTME.  In addition, the minimum entry requirements into the National Diploma programmes is Senior School Certificate Examination [WAEC/GCE/NECO & NABTEB (NTC)] with at least five (5) Credits obtained at not more than two (2) sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects.  

Note: For candidates using two (2) sittings, the following are the SSCE results combinations.

• NABTEB => NABTEB     

• NECO => WAEC 

• WAEC => WAEC 

• NECO => NECO  

What the Polytechnic does is screening of credentials, which means, candidate who score at least 120 in their UTME and have credits in 5 subjects including English Language and Mathematics, will be offered admission.

To make your admission process fast, make sure you already pick Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti as your first choice because the Polytechnic rarely offers admission to candidates that choose her as their second choice.

Candidate with A’S and B’S at one sitting have a high chance of being offered admission. The general requirement for the admission are 120 in UTME and five credits at O’ level at not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE and NABTEB.

English Language; (Literature-in English and Oral English are not acceptable in place of English Language); Mathematics; Any one (1) of the following: Economics, Commerce, Principles of Accounts/Book keeping; Plus any other two (2) of the following: Geography, Government/Civic Education, Agric. Science/ Animal Husbandry/Biology/Chemistry/Physics, Data Processing/ICT/Computer, Insurance. 

English Language; Mathematics; Economics; and Anyone (1) from Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts. 

2. AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY 

English; Mathematics; Chemistry; Any one (1) of the following: Biology/Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry /Fisheries. Plus anyone (1) of the following: Economics, Geography, Statistics, Physics, Civic Education/Government, Computer/ICT/Data Processing. 

English Language;Chemistry; Any Two (2) from Agricultural Science, Physics, Economics, Geography, Biology.

NABTEB – National Technical Certificate/General Education in the relevant courses is also acceptable. 

NOTE: Only NABTEB (National Technical Certificate) would be accepted for admission and not NABTEB (National Business Certificate) 

3. COMPUTER SCIENCE 

English; Mathematics; Physics; Plus any two (2) of the following: Chemistry, Agricultural Science/Biology/Animal Husbandry/Food & Nutrition, Statistics, Economics /Commerce, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, ICT/Computer Studies/Data Processing, Fine Arts. 

English Language; Mathematics; Physics; Anyone (1) from Chemistry/Biology. 

4.  ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY 

English; Mathematics; Physics; Chemistry; Plus anyone (1) of the following: Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Electrical Installation & Maintenance Works, Radio/Television & Electrical Works, Instrument Mechanics, Appliances Maintenance and Repairs, Basic Electronics/Electricity. 

English Language; Mathematics; Physics; Chemistry. 

Students are advised to input correct information during the registration process, and it is not expected from students to abbreviate or omit their names and data. A single mistake can cause disqualification since the school only screen credentials for admission process. Students should ensure that their names, date of birth, registration number and other information are entered correctly.

EKITI STATE POLYTECHNIC, ISAN-EKITI SCHOOL FEES

Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti School fees are affordable, Student is allowed and pocket friendly. Full time Students pay less than N65,000 per session across all Departments. Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti school fees are affordable as students have chance to pay on instalmental basis that is 50% in the first semester and 50% in the second semester. Both indigene students and non-indigene students pay same amount as at the time of this report, no preferential treatment in terms of school fees. 

ACCOMMODATION

Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti is currently non-residential due to the nationwide security challenges, though efforts are in top gear to commence hostel services very soon. Currently, students stay off campus located within Isan – Ekiti and its environ. Students are therefore advised to stay at close range to the campus for convenience, reduce cost and stress.

The town is always lively due to the presence of Students, so if you seek accommodation at any of the Street in the town, you will surely enjoy your stay as a student.

Land Coverage

The State Government has acquired 112 hectares of land for the institution at the main campus. Effort is in progress to acquire more for expansion and to engage in commercial agricultural activities. The Polytechnic have a standard master plan for the execution of its project and is been followed religiously.

The Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti accept candidates awaiting results but you must present the result for registration as a student.
