The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has presented a brand-new official vehicle to the institution’s Skills Development Centre as part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
The vehicle was handed over to the Director of the Centre, Engr. Ogonna Nwokoye, and was procured under the 2025 TETFund Special Intervention Fund.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Awuzie explained that the initiative is aimed at strengthening the Centre’s activities and ensuring seamless coordination of its programmes for the benefit of students, trainees, and staff. She noted that the provision of the vehicle aligns with the broader objective behind establishing the Centre, which is to equip learners with practical, industry-relevant skills.
The Rector emphasized the importance of proper maintenance and responsible use of the vehicle, stressing that careful handling would guarantee its longevity and sustained value to the institution.
In her remarks, the TETFund Director of the Polytechnic, Dr. Helen Nnabuenyi, expressed appreciation to the Rector for her commitment to institutional development. She also acknowledged the support of the 12th Governing Council, led by Senator Barnabas Gemade, in advancing the Polytechnic’s growth agenda.
Dr. Nnabuenyi further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the policy direction continues to drive economic reforms, infrastructure development, and structural transformation across the country’s education sector.
Responding, the Director of the Skills Development Centre, Engr. Ogonna Nwokoye, praised the Rector for her forward-thinking vision and unwavering support for the Centre. He assured the management that efforts are underway to fully realize the objectives behind the establishment of the Centre.
According to him, the Centre is strategically positioned to evolve beyond skills acquisition into a viable commercial hub, leveraging its existing facilities and training programmes to generate value and create opportunities.
He reaffirmed the team’s commitment to translating the Rector’s vision into measurable outcomes that will benefit both the Polytechnic community and the wider society.
