Federal Polytechnic Ayede’s 2026 Rector’s Cup Heads Into Thrilling Semi-Finals

Excitement is building at Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, as the institution’s Annual Rector’s Cup 2026 Tournament reaches the semi-final stage, with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering set to face the Department of Public Administration in a highly anticipated clash.
The competition, organized under the leadership of the Acting Rector, Engr. Dr. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, continues to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and physical fitness alongside academic excellence.
Speaking on the tournament, the Acting Rector reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s commitment to producing well-rounded graduates by encouraging students to participate in sporting activities that foster discipline, resilience, unity and healthy competition.
She noted that the Annual Rector’s Cup has become one of the institution’s flagship extracurricular programmes, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents, strengthen interdepartmental relationships and contribute to a vibrant campus community.
The Polytechnic’s Sports Coordinator, Mr. Bello Bashir Olufihan, encouraged students, staff, alumni and supporters to rally behind their respective departments as the competition intensifies.
He described the Rector’s Cup as more than just a football tournament, emphasizing that it represents the values of unity, discipline, talent and sportsmanship that define the institution. He also urged spectators to support their teams responsibly while maintaining the spirit of fair play throughout the competition.
With a place in the grand finale at stake, both the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Department of Public Administration are expected to deliver an entertaining contest filled with determination, skill and competitive spirit.
The Annual Rector’s Cup remains one of Federal Polytechnic Ayede’s major student engagement initiatives, reflecting the institution’s commitment to holistic education by combining academic excellence with sports development, leadership training and talent discovery.
