YABATECH Showcases Girls’ Tech Innovation as COHEADS Holds 162nd Regular Meeting

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) hosted the 162nd Regular Meeting of the Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COHEADS), bringing together leaders of polytechnics and colleges of technology from across the country.

The meeting, hosted under the leadership of the Rector, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul, also featured a visit by the COHEADS delegation to the GESP All-Girls Tech Hub, where members were introduced to the achievements of the Girls’ Education and Skills Partnership (GESP).

During the visit, the delegation received an overview of the programme, highlighting its role in equipping young women with future-ready digital and technology skills. They also interacted with participants, listened to their inspiring experiences and watched demonstrations of innovative digital solutions developed through the initiative.

The showcase highlighted the creativity, technical competence and confidence of the students, demonstrating the impact of investing in digital education, mentorship and innovation for young women.

The event reinforced the importance of promoting girls’ participation in technology and digital skills development as part of efforts to prepare the next generation of innovators and technology professionals in Nigeria.
