Federal Polytechnic Ayede Strengthens Campus Beautification With Major Tree Planting Initiative

The Department of Agricultural Technology at Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogbomoso, has reinforced the institution’s commitment to environmental sustainability and campus beautification through a large-scale tree planting exercise across its temporary and permanent campuses.

The initiative, led by the Acting Head of the Department, Dr. Mrs. Temitope Sarah Akinde, forms part of the Polytechnic’s ongoing efforts to create a greener, healthier and more attractive learning environment.

According to Dr. Akinde, the annual tree planting exercise is organized to mark World Environment Day, observed globally every June 5, as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation, climate action and nature regeneration.

She explained that this year’s exercise began at the Iresa-Pupa Temporary Site, where the Acting Rector, Engr. Dr. Mrs. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, alongside Principal Officers and other stakeholders, each planted a tree to demonstrate the institution’s dedication to environmental sustainability.

The exercise was later extended to the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) campus at Onipaanu, where staff and students of the Department cleared and cultivated sections of land at the campus entrance before planting melina and palm trees at appropriate spacing to improve the landscape and enhance the campus environment.

Dr. Akinde expressed appreciation to the Acting Rector, Engr. Dr. Mrs. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, and the Acting Dean of the School of Agricultural Technology, Mr. Bashir Olufihan Bello, for their unwavering support toward the success of the initiative.

She also commended members of staff and students of the Department for their dedication and active participation, describing the exercise as a practical contribution to environmental protection, campus beautification and sustainable development.

The tree planting initiative further reflects Federal Polytechnic Ayede’s growing commitment to promoting eco-friendly practices while creating a conducive atmosphere for learning and institutional development.
