Bida Poly Rector advocates peaceful means to resolving industrial crisis
Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Dr. Abubakar Abdul Dzukogi today in Bida asked stakeholders in the educational and other sectors of the economy to always strive to resolve industrial crisis through peaceful means. He made this known during a one-day retreat organized for some members of the Academic Board and unionists at Bologi Event Centre, Bida.
The Rector said the event became imperative in view of the recent happenings in the institution wherein there was little industrial harmony until an intervention by the Ministry of Education.
He commended officials of the Ministry for adequately educating “the polytechnic staff on the essence of institutional governance and conflict management for a better educational set up.” Dzukogi therefore advised staff and Nigerians present at the occasion to learn and apply basic knowledge acquired at the event cogently.
Speaking at the occasion, a retired Director of the Ministry of Education, Dr. (Mrs) Hilda Onyekwere, asked participants to always adopt ‘quick response mechanism’ to settle disputes, adding that “our leaders should always be quick in identifying problems and as well learn the best way to improve the system for enduring and lasting legacies.”
She further advised the staff of the institution to respect constituted authorities and give the Rector the enabling environment to operate developmentally.
” Let our Chief Executives support staff development and welfare very well, let them rate competence above favoritism, let there be an open door policy and let there not be victimization of students and staff.” Onyekwere further suggested.
