Application forms for admission into the Kogi State Polytechnic’s regular Programmes for the 2025/2026 Academic Session are now on sale.
The Polytechnic offers the following courses:-
1. SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCES
Higher National Diploma in:
a. Computer Science with options in the following
i. Software and Web Development
ii. Networking and Cloud Computing
b. Statistics
c. Science Laboratory Technology with options in the following
i. Chemistry
ii. Biochemistry
iii. Environmental Biology
iv. Microbiology
2. SCHOOL OF ART DESIGN AND PRINTING
Higher National Diploma in:
a. Industrial Design with Options in the following
i. Graphics
ii. Textiles
iii. Ceramics
b. Fine Arts, with Options in the following
i. Painting
ii. Sculpture
3. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
Higher National Diploma in:
a. Mineral/Petroleum Resources Engineering with options in the following

Higher National Diploma in:
a. Accountancy
b. Business Administration and Management

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCES
Higher National Diploma in:
a. Computer Science
Candidates must possess a National Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Software Engineering, Networking & System Security.
b. Higher National Diploma in Networking and Cloud Computing (Two Years)
Candidates must have a minimum of lower credit (CGPA) of 2.50 and five credits O/Level (NECO/WAEC/GCE/NABTEB) in not more than two sittings.
Compulsory subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
Also required: one (1) year of compulsory Industrial Training or a pass in ND result with two (2) years of compulsory Industrial Training.
ND Transcript is required.
c. Higher National Diploma in Software and Web Development (Two Years)
Same requirements as Networking and Cloud Computing.
d. Higher National Diploma in Statistics (Two Years)
National Diploma in Statistics with minimum CGPA of 2.50. Five credits O/Level including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Geography
- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric. Science
e. Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology (Two Years)
With options in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Environmental Biology.
Same requirements as above with O/Level credits in:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics
2. SCHOOL OF ART DESIGN AND PRINTING
a. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Industrial Design
Options:
i. Graphics
ii. Textiles
iii. Ceramics
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Fine Arts
- Minimum CGPA of 2.50
- Five credits O/Level (NECO/WAEC/GCE/NABTEB), not more than two sittings including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Fine Arts or Visual Arts
- Chemistry, History, Biology, Literature, etc.
b. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Fine Arts
Options:
i. Painting
ii. Sculpture
Same requirements as Industrial Design.
3. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
a. Higher National Diploma Mineral/Petroleum Resources Engineering
Options:
i. Mining Engineering Technology
ii. Geological Engineering Technology
iii. Mineral Processing Engineering Technology
b. Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
Options:
- Power and Machine
- Electronic and Telecommunication
- Telecommunication Engineering Technology
- Television Engineering
c. Metallurgical and Material Engineering Technology
- National Diploma in Mineral Resources Engineering
- Minimum CGPA of 2.50
- Five credits O/Level including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and three subjects from:
- Metalwork
- Technical Drawing
- Basic Electronics
- Geography
Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering Technology
Entry Requirements:
- Five O/Level credits including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- One other science subject
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering with CGPA of 2.50 minimum
- One-year post-ND cognate work experience (including three months certified computer training)
- ND graduates with CGPA of 2.0 – 2.49 and two years of experience may be considered
Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option)
Entry Requirements:
Same as Civil Engineering with relevant ND background
4. School of Environmental Technology
a. Higher National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (Two Years)
Entry Requirements:
Candidates for the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Urban and Regional Planning must possess a National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50). They must also have five credits at O/Level (NECO/WAEC/GCE/NABTEB) in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two subjects from Economics, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science, and Fine Art. Additionally, candidates must have completed one (1) year of compulsory Industrial Training or have a pass in ND result with two (2) years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcripts are required for admission into all HND programmes, and candidates must process and submit their academic transcripts.
b. Higher National Diploma in Architectural Technology
Entry Requirements:
Candidates for the HND in Architectural Technology must hold a National Diploma in Architectural Technology with a minimum lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50 and above) and five O/Level credits (WAEC/GCE/NECO/NABTEB) in not more than two sittings. Required subjects include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and any two from Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, Technical Drawing/Graphic Design, Painting & Decoration/Fine Art, Building Construction, Woodwork, Basic Electronics, and Computer Studies. Candidates must also have one (1) year of compulsory post-ND Industrial Training. Those with a pass (CGPA below 2.50) must have a minimum of two (2) years post-ND cognate/related work experience. ND transcripts are required for admission, and candidates must submit them accordingly.
c. Higher National Diploma in Building Technology
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must have a minimum score in the Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and five credit passes in not more than two sittings in SSCE or its equivalent (WASSCE, NECO, NTC, GCE O/L, or WASC). Relevant subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two from Chemistry, Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Basic Electricity, Economics, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Building Construction, Block Laying, Agricultural Science/Biology, Geography, Fine Arts, Computer Studies, and Painting and Decoration. Details of admission requirements are obtainable from accredited programmes in the NBTE annual directory. Candidates must also have a National Diploma (ND) in Building Technology with a minimum lower credit pass and at least one year of post-ND industrial training/work experience in building or construction-related industries. Those with a pass at ND level and a minimum of two years post-ND industrial training/work experience may also be considered.
d. HND in Surveying and Geoinformatics
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must have SSCE, WASSCE, NECO, NTC, or equivalent with credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and any two subjects from Statistics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Basic Surveying, Geography, Economics, and Biology/Agricultural Science, obtained in not more than two sittings. Additionally, candidates must have one of the following:
- ND in Surveying & Geoinformatics
- ND in Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing
- ND in Cartography & GIS
A minimum of one year post-National Diploma (ND) industrial training/work experience in the relevant field is also required. Candidates with a pass at ND level and a minimum of two years post-ND experience may be considered for admission into the HND programme.
5. School of Management Studies
Higher National Diploma in:
- Accountancy
- Business Administration and Management
- Library and Information Science
- Office Technology and Management
- Public Administration
a. Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (Two Years)
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must possess a National Diploma in Accountancy, Taxation, Banking & Finance, Insurance, Micro-Finance & Enterprise Development, or NID Banking Operations, with a minimum lower credit (CGPA of 2.50). They must also have five O/Level credits (NECO/WAEC/GCE/NABTEB) in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, and Commerce or Economics (compulsory at credit level), plus a credit in any other Science and Social Science subject. Candidates are required to have one (1) year of compulsory Industrial Training or a pass in ND result with two (2) years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcripts are mandatory for admission into all HND programmes, and candidates must process and submit them.
b. Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management (Two Years)
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must hold a National Diploma in Business Administration and Management, Cooperative Economics & Management, Pension Administration & Business Studies, Petroleum Marketing and Business Studies, or Procurement and Supply Chain Management. The same academic and industrial training requirements as stated in section 5.a apply, including a minimum CGPA of 2.50, five O/Level credits, and one year of compulsory Industrial Training (or two years for those with a pass in ND result). ND transcripts are required for admission.
c. Higher National Diploma in Library and Information Science (Two Years)
Entry Requirements:
Same as section 5.a, but candidates must possess a National Diploma in Library and Information Science. The academic and industrial training requirements, including CGPA, O/Level credits, and ND transcripts, remain the same.
d. Higher National Diploma in Office Technology and Management (Two Years)
Entry Requirements:
Same as section 5.a, but candidates must hold a National Diploma in Office Technology and Management. All other requirements, including CGPA, O/Level credits, Industrial Training, and ND transcripts, apply as stated in section 5.a.
e. Higher National Diploma in Public Administration (Two Years)
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must possess a National Diploma in Public Administration, Local Government and Administrative Studies, Crime Management, Labour, or Industrial Relations, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and five O/Level credits as specified in section 5.a. Additionally, they must have a credit pass in Government or Civic Education at the O/Level. The same Industrial Training and transcript requirements apply.
Method of Application
Applications can be accessed through the school portal at https://portal.kogistatepolytechnic.edu.ng. Qualified candidates are advised to generate two different RRR numbers for the Admission Form and the Screening Fee through the portal and make payments as follows:
- Admission Form Fee: N10,000.00
- Screening Fee: N10,000.00
Important Notes:
- Candidates must process their transcripts before admission. Transcripts should be mailed directly to the Registrar, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
- Submission of hard copies of credentials at the Polytechnic Admission Office must be completed on or before the closing date.
- The closing date for submission of completed forms is six weeks from the date of this advertisement, i.e., 16th June 2025. There will be no extension of the application form sale date.
