The Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing is aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. The Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals provide a wide-ranging study of the computing sector and are designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their careers in computing.
It equips students with the computing skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to achieve performance in the global computing environment. Additionally, it provides insight and understanding into international computing operations and the opportunities and challenges presented by a globalized marketplace.
The purpose of the programme is to develop students as professional self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the computing sector and adapt to the constantly changing world. The qualifications aim to have wide access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.
The HND in Computing is delivered across 15 modules and is meant to meet the increasing need for professional, technical and educational pathways, through a focused curriculum that prepares them for future degree-level studies and/or industry work. The curriculum promotes experiential learning through group projects, practical assignments, and class partnerships to better mirror the real-world workplace. We replicate scenarios and increase engagement through a combination of study and practical training. This ensures that learners are always learning and honing their skills.

Upon successful completion of the 15 modules, students will have earned 240 credits – equivalent to the first two years of an undergraduate course.
