OSPOLY ASUP STRIKE: Suspending Academic Activities is Unfair –  NAPS

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has reacted to the suspension of academic activities by the Academic staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Osun State polytechnic Iree chapter.

NAPS Deputy senate president, Comrade Adeniji Boluwaji said that the suspension of academic activities because of the appointment of Mr Alabi as the acting Rector is uncalled for.

NAPS leadership appealed to the polytechnic lecturers to suspend their strike action so that examination can continue as scheduled and find other means of communicating their agitation to the state government.

“The attention of the Senate Leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has been drawn to action of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics of Osun State Polytechnic (ASUP Iree chapter) of paralyzing the Academic Activities of the Institution is totally uncalled for…

“The Senate Leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students through the Office of the Deputy Senate President is using this medium to call the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics of Osun State Polytechnic Iree (ASUP Iree Chapter) go to back to their academic activities and let the Students continue with their Examination and find a better means of agitation and Communication with the Government of Osun State…

Instead of shutting down the academic activities of the Polytechnic which will have negative effect on the Students at the long-run. Nigerian Polytechnic Students should not always be at the bad end of issue that has to do with the Management and the Government,the Students doesn’t know or Contribute to the changing of the Management, Students that has duly pay their School fees, prepare well for the examination, the demoralizing this break will caused the Students can’t be Overemphasize, the ASUP should Consider their Students and place their academic as Priority at all times.”

“National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) is calling on the management of Osun State Polytechnic Iree Osun State to go on with the examination without the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) if they refuse to listen to all Appeal.”
