NYSC Releases 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Exemption Certificates — Schools Get Six-Month Deadline

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced the release and delivery of Certificates of Exemption for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II graduates to all corps-producing institutions across Nigeria.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, the NYSC confirmed that the certificates have been produced, dispatched, and received by various universities, polytechnics, and colleges nationwide.
According to the agency, the six-month countdown period for the return of any unclaimed Certificates of Exemption has already commenced, starting from October 6, 2025, in line with its policy on proper certificate management and accountability.
NYSC Clarifies Certificate Collection Process
The statement reads:
“The 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Certificates of Exemption have been produced and delivered to Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) nationwide.
In compliance with the NYSC’s policy on certificate management, the countdown for the return of all unclaimed Certificates of Exemption by institutions began on October 6, 2025.”
This policy aims to ensure that all certificates are properly distributed, tracked, and safely returned if not collected within the stipulated time frame.
What the NYSC Certificate of Exemption Means
The NYSC Certificate of Exemption is an official document issued to Nigerian graduates who are exempted from participating in the one-year national service program due to age (30 years and above at graduation) or prior service with the armed forces or police.
It holds the same national recognition as the NYSC Discharge Certificate and is often required for job applications, government appointments, and other professional engagements.
Graduates who qualify for the exemption are urged to contact their institutions’ student affairs or registry departments to confirm the availability of their certificates and collect them before the deadline expires.
Why Graduates Should Act Fast
Failure to claim an exemption certificate within the six-month collection window could lead to administrative delays, loss, or additional procedures required to retrieve it later.
Institutions are also expected to return all unclaimed certificates to the NYSC headquarters in Abuja once the countdown period ends.
Eligible graduates are therefore advised to visit their schools promptly to verify, collect, and secure their exemption certificates to avoid complications in future employment or documentation processes.
What to Do Next
- Visit your school’s registry or student affairs office to confirm delivery of the exemption certificates.
- Bring a valid means of identification (e.g., student ID or national ID).
- Collect your certificate before the six-month deadline lapses.
