University of Mkar, Mkar is a private faith-based university established by the Universal Reformed Christian Church (URCC) better known as the Nongu u Kristu u I Ser Sha Tar – NKST. The apex level institution was licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on the 6th day of June 2005 to operate as a private university. It is a crown jewel institution of the NKST that is passionate about academic excellence, character development and value addition that puts God at the centre of learning. The university has had four Vice-Chancellors since inception. 

The University of Mkar, Mkar is located at the foot of the Mkar Hills in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria.

The mission of the university is to produce change agents for the world that are committed to service unto God and service unto mankind.
