Is it Good to do Blood Covenant in a Relationship? Benefits and Consequences of Blood Covenant

A “blood covenant” is the binding of two persons with a common interest with their own blood. This involves cutting a part of the body, usually the thumb, to discharge blood. The lovers will lick the gushing blood and make an oath to bind them together forever.

Blood covenants can be traced to the Stone Age, where our forefathers engaged in a blood covenant to keep secrets; the secrets could be friendship relationships, love relationships, mother-son relationships, etc. It is usually done to build commitment and loyalty in a relationship. The blood covenant and oath-taking will bind them together until death takes them apart.

The Benefits of a Blood Covenant?

Although many people do the Blood Covenant out of ignorance and love, nevertheless, it has benefits, such as:

1. COMMITMENT.

A blood covenant helps to build commitment, loyalty, and trust in a relationship as there will be no fear of being cheated on and lovers can rely on each other with their biggest secrets.

2. HEARTBREAK.

A lot of people are scared of heartbreak, and to prevent this in the future, they do the Blood Covenant to reassure their partner of their love. It is believed that people who genuinely love each other engage in a “blood covenant,” so there won’t be fear that S/he will break your heart.

3. A SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP.

Another benefit of a blood covenant is that it breeds serious relationships. For instance, if a man proposes love to you and you prank him with a blood covenant, this might scare him even when you don’t mean it. People bound by love and the blood covenant tend to have serious relationships that will definitely lead to marriage.

Disadvantages/Consequences of the Blood Covenant.

Truly, the Blood Covenant is the panacea to heartbreak and possible emotional trauma in the future, but the disadvantages/consequences cannot be overemphasized. Let us take a look at the consequences.

1. TRANSMISSION DISEASE.

They say blood is thicker than water, so in the case of a blood covenant, you run the risk of being infected by diseases such as HIV/AIDS and other diseases that can be transmitted through fluid since a blood covenant involves licking or sucking each other’s blood. If you don’t want to spend your life savings treating a disease you know nothing about, you had better not attempt a blood covenant at all.

2. WHAT IF YOU ARE NOT MEANT TO BE TOGETHER?

The mistake a lot of people make is jumping to the worst conclusion about their feelings, so they rush to do the Blood Covenant at the beginning of the relationship. See, nobody knows tomorrow, and change is constant. What if, by tomorrow, you realize that you are not meant to be together as a life partner? For instance, if your partner is treating you badly and you are seeing someone who is better and treating you well, you can’t discontinue the relationship because you are already bound together.

I could remember at the early stage of my life when a lady said I must do a blood covenant with her before we could have sex because she doesn’t trust men, and as a man who was already in the mood and eager for my pleasure, I agreed to her terms perhaps it was difficult for me to object at that very moment, and we did a covenant with a Bible bound by some curses in the book of Psalm. A few months later, we both realized that we were not meant for each other, but it was difficult for us to breakup. Well, I was lucky that she agreed to break the covenant, and we did it, after which we went for spiritual cleansing. What if she had died or refused to break the covenant with me? I would have lived with regrets for the rest of my life. So before you make a blood covenant with your lover, think very carefully about this because you don’t know what the future holds.

3. YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER BECOMES BAD.

Immediately after the oath is taken, your significant other may change from good to bad because, to them, they feel like they own you now and there is nothing you can do about it. You may have to live with these consequences for the rest of your life.

I understand that one of the major reasons why lovers may do such a thing is because they do not want to lose each other. Whether you trust your partner or not, whether you genuinely love them or not, you shouldn’t indulge in a blood covenant because the consequences involved are more than the benefits.

4. PREMATURE DEATH.

A blood covenant is the king of oath-taking, which involves sharing blood. The consequence is most often death. This also depends on what you say when you were taking the oath. People who belong to secret societies like cults and other ritual activities engage in a blood covenant to trust each other, and when the oath is broken, such people risk death consequences.

How to Break the Blood Covenant.

Now that you have realized your mistakes, you want to erase them by breaking the blood covenant. Breaking the blood covenant means you want to denounce the oath you had with him/her because you don’t love them anymore; probably you did it out of ignorance, you are fed up, it’s against your faith or religion, and you don’t need it anymore.

To break the covenant depends on the type of oath taken. For instance, if the covenant only involves you and your significant other, you can renounce the covenant by doing the same thing. Your partner must agree to renounce this too. If you guys cut each other’s hands with a razor then, you should do the same now. Use the razor to cut your hands, and the blood should touch ground then begin to renounce everything you said when you were taking the oath.

In the case of mine, I said, “I so so (my name) today renounce my oath to you (her name) to be with you together forever; I renounce my commitment to you; I renounce my loyalty and trust to you; and I cancel and renounce all the curses.”

If your oath-taking involves a third party, you should find the person who bound you guys together to break the oath.

What if my partner is dead?

Like I said earlier, a blood covenant oath depends on the things you say when taking the oath. If you include in the oath that “until death separate us,” that means death is the only thing that can separate you guys, so if S/he is dead, that means the covenant is broken, but it is possible for the deceased to be disturbing you in your dreams, like you may find yourself making love to him/her in your dreams. In this case, you may have to do spiritual cleansing. Go to any trusted prophet of God, confess, and you will be saved.

In conclusion, nobody is perfect, as we all make mistakes, but if at all you must make any mistakes or make sacrifices for a relationship out of love, it should never be a blood covenant. Blood covenant may seem like the best option to build trust, commitment, and love, but the consequences are nothing to write home about. Never indulge in it, and if you are already in it, it is never too late to renounce your agreement.
