AKWAPOLY RECTOR MEETS WITH STUDENTS UNION EXECUTIVES

..sues for excellence and selfless leadership
The Rector, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Dr. Moses Umobong has charged executives of Students Union Government on the need to tackle several abnormalities around the campus in order to redeem its glorious days.
The Rector gave the charge today during a meeting held in his office. He expressed his happiness to the union executives over their good conduct, maintaining decorum irrespective of the rigorous and turbulent electioneering period while assuring them of management’s total support to their administration in other for them to succeed.
“You are the representatives of the students and the management of the Institution is ready to work with you”.
He further stressed on the need for students to embrace the entrepreneural era adding that the knowledge gained will give them a place in the circular world.
“Today it isn’t really much about the certificate you posses but what you can contribute to the society. So as representatives, encourage the students to acquire skills that will make them better placed in the society.”
Dr. Umobong also admonished the Students Union Executives to encourage academic excellence, be selfless, discourage all forms of malpractice and tackle the incessant increase in indesent dressing amongst students stressing that the level of this practices on campus is alarming and defaulters must be punished.
In his response, the Students Union Government President, Comr. Godfrey George expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Rector for giving the students a serene environment and the opportunity to exhibit their leadership prowess. He stressed that the vision of the present administration is to work with the school management towards achieving greater heights which includes moving the institution from the 2nd best Polytechnic to the 1st and prayed for total support in other to achieve these goals.
In attendance were the Deputy Rector, Dr. Lionel Ukoka, Acting Registrar, Mr. Godswill Udofah, Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy Ukpanah, Bursar, Mr. Ekong Ituen and other Executives of the Students Union Government.
